Three Reasons to Dress Modestly

For God

It is our responsibility to make the transition from "it's all about me" to "it's all about God. "  In choosing to wear clothes that are not pleasing to God, we make a statement that our desire to be "in style" outweighs our desire to show God the awe and reverence He deserves, whether in church or anywhere else. When it comes to modesty everything we do, say, and wear should bring glory and honor to God.

For Guys

Women are often tempted by their emotions, but men are wired differently. Guys are greatly affected and tempted by what they see. Therefore, it is our responsibility as young women to not cause our "brothers"  to stumble. Jesus said, " Whoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart. " (Matthew 5:28)  We cannot change the fact that guys are visually stimulated and inclined to read more into a revealing outfit then a simple expression of fashion. We must care enough to protect their souls.

For Self-Respect

Clothing is like a label on a product. It often gives information about the ingredients on the inside. An outfit can send a message of our worth as well as the attention we get from guys.  We have to come to terms with the beauty that we posses on the inside and not solicit attention from boys based what we have to offer on the outside. It takes confidence and inner strength for girls to buck the current fashion trends and refuse to dress immodestly. When we do it shows that we are comfortable with who we are and don't feel the need to "flaunt it" to get attention or "fit in" by wearing the fashions of the day.
